Usage Suggestions: Versatile and easy to prepare, green lentils can be used in a variety of dishes. Here are some ideas to incorporate them into your meals:

  • Add cooked lentils to salads for an extra boost of protein and fibre.
  • Use them as a meat substitute in vegetarian burgers or meatballs.
  • Incorporate lentils into soups, stews, and curries for hearty and nutritious meals.
  • Mix cooked lentils with grains like rice or quinoa for a nutritious side dish.
  • Blend cooked lentils into dips or spreads for a protein-packed snack.

Health Benefits: Green lentils are not only delicious but also packed with essential nutrients. They are rich in plant-based protein, making them an excellent choice for vegetarians and vegans looking to meet their protein needs. Additionally, lentils are high in dietary fibre, which promotes digestive health and helps regulate blood sugar levels. They also contain an array of vitamins and minerals, including folate, iron, and magnesium, which support overall well-being.

Storage Recommendation: Upon delivery, transfer the green lentils into an airtight container to maintain their freshness and flavour. The brown paper bag can be recycled or composted, contributing to a sustainable lifestyle.

Allergen Information: Packed on premises that handle gluten, tree nuts, sesame, soya, peanuts.

To cook: It's not necessary to pre-soak lentils prior to cooking but doing so can cut down the cooking time. Rinse lentils well under a cold running tap to remove dust and debris. Lentils will expand by up to three times their size so use a pan large enough and add water to the lentils in a 3:1 ratio. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until your desired consistency has been reached. If required, always add salt at the end of cooking lentils as it can cause them to toughen up when added before or during, making it harder to cook them.
